Layers of protection

Your customers' information is protected at every door

Dealer Checkout holds names, phone numbers and email addresses of the people your store is working. Here is exactly how each account is protected — nine layers that work together, including geofencing that keeps sign-in and checkout within your dealership's approved location.

Password plus an emailed code

Every real account signs in with a password and then a 6-digit code emailed to that person. The code expires after 5 minutes, so a stolen password alone is never enough.

Three strikes and the account locks

Three wrong passwords lock the account immediately. Nobody can keep guessing, and the person trying is stopped before they get a fourth attempt.

Warning email on the second attempt

After the second failed attempt the account holder gets an email telling them someone is trying to sign in, so a break-in attempt is never silent.

Only a higher-level account can unlock

A locked account stays locked until a general manager or the Dealer Checkout owner clears it. Reps and managers can't clear their own lock.

Cleared locks force a fresh password

The moment a lock is cleared, that person gets an email telling them to set a new password. They can't sign back in until they do — and it can never match a password they've used before.

Passwords expire every 9 months

Every password is replaced on a 9-month schedule. When the clock runs out, the next sign-in asks for a brand-new password before anything else opens.

Idle sessions sign out on their own

Idle time is set for either 30 minutes or an hour, depending on the level of account. A phone left on the desk doesn't stay signed in.

Geo-fenced sign-in and checkout

The system is geofenced. Staff must be within the store's approved distance to sign in and complete checkout. Off-site reps can still see their schedule from home without opening the protected checkout floor.

Each store keeps its own data

Every dealership account is separated from every other one. Managers see only their assigned reps, and reps see only their own leads.

What this means day to day

  • A rep who forgets a password gets three tries, then a manager clears it in one tap.
  • Clearing a lock sends that rep an email to set a brand-new password.
  • Old passwords can never be reused — not the last one, not one from years ago.
  • Every nine months everyone sets a fresh password, automatically.
  • The system is geofenced, keeping sign-ins and checkouts within the GM's approved radius.
